The Best Car-Friendly Patios and Restaurants in the Region

One of the best parts of car culture is the food. Cruise nights end at diners. Cars and Coffee starts with espresso. Road trips have gas station snacks and roadside cafes. In Northern Nevada, the car community has its regular spots, and finding them is half the fun.

Here's our roundup of car-friendly patios, restaurants, and gathering spots across the region. Places where you can park the car, grab a bite, and talk shop with fellow enthusiasts.

Hub Coffee Roasters, Reno

Hub is the unofficial headquarters of Reno's car community on Saturday mornings. Located on Riverside Drive, it's a natural gathering spot before or after a cruise. The espresso is locally roasted, the patio is spacious, and you'll almost always see something interesting in the parking lot. It's the kind of place where conversations start with "nice car."

Virginia City Saloons

After driving the Geiger Grade, C Street in Virginia City is where you end up. The Bucket of Blood Saloon and the Delta Saloon are classics, but honestly, any spot on the street will do. Park the car, walk the boardwalk, and step back into the 1860s. The saloon walls are covered in history, and the bartenders have heard every car story in the book.

Genoa Bar & Saloon

Nevada's oldest thirst parlor. Cash only, taxidermy on the walls, and a jukebox that hasn't changed since 1972. The Genoa Bar is a must-stop on any Carson Valley cruise. It's tiny, it's historic, and it's exactly the kind of place that makes driving these roads worthwhile.

Downtown Reno Cruise Scene

Friday and Saturday nights bring classic cars to Virginia Street. The neon lights, the mountain backdrop, and the rumble of V8s make it feel like stepping back in time. Several restaurants and bars along the strip welcome the car crowd with easy parking and outdoor seating. Check the Reno Pontiac Club calendar for organized cruise nights.

Carson City Breweries

Carson City's craft beer scene has grown a lot in recent years. Several breweries have patios that welcome the car crowd, and they're natural gathering spots before Thursday Night Cruisers roll through downtown. The capital city has that small-town feel where everybody knows everybody, and the car community is a big part of that.

These are just a few of the spots that make Northern Nevada car culture special. If you have a favorite that we missed, let us know. We're always looking to add to the list.
